The
education chair or committee is responsible for coordinating the shorter
educational programs held in conjunction with chapter meetings. The
programs committee plans the larger seminars/workshops.
Major responsibilities:
1) Develops monthly topics list and annual education budget with vice
president for submission to the chapter board.
2) Coordinates education committee activities with other officers and
chairpersons (i.e., programs and/or arrangements chairperson, newsletter
editor, publicity chairperson, etc.), as needed.
3) Arranges and recommends interesting, informative topics that will
contribute to the personal and professional growth of the membership.
a) Draws on chapter members, when possible, to present the session
in a presentation, panel discussion, or workshop format.
b) Programs should be professionally demanding and should be aimed
at the needs of beginning and advanced information systems audit and
control professionals.
4) Identifies speakers or leaders for each meeting.
a) Locates speakers from other chapters and other organizations (i.e.,
FBI, police departments, professional organizations, local companies,
employers)
b) Collects biographical information about the speaker for use as
introduction.
c) Manages all speaker arrangements (i.e., travel, hotel, materials).
d) Works with arrangements committee to ensure any special equipment
required by speaker is available.
e) Provides for a minimum of one “standby” program for
the current year in the event of an emergency/no show.
5) Works with arrangements committee to coordinate registration for
meetings.
6) Builds a library of program topics, course materials and speakers.
Polls membership (with the programs committee and membership director)
to determine topics of interest.
7) Distributes and collects evaluation forms at appropriate meetings.
Provides report of results to vice president. (See sample evaluation
form after program chair section, and posted electronically to the chapter
leadership area of the web site www.isaca.org/@chapter/admin/index.htm.
8) Coordinates with the treasurer to obtain a gift, honorarium or fee
for the speaker, if desired.
9) Sends letter of thanks to the speaker.
10) Maintains a record of monthly meetings and attendees. This record
is crucial for when a CISA in the chapter is audited and needs to verify
attendance.
11) Provides biographical material of all speakers to the newsletter
editor for publication in the chapter newsletter.
Reporting
responsibilities:
The education committee reports to the chapter vice president and works
closely with the programs and arrangements committee(s), the newsletter
editor, the membership director and the publicity committee (if applicable).
